The Healers’ Guild

It is not an easy job.

Fortunately, we have a very lax policy when it comes to recreational drinking.

Who are we

The Healers Guild is a group of volunteers dedicated to caring for the wellbeing of all the citizens of EoC. Our healers come from all walks and are dedicated to the single purpose of trying our darndest to keep all these people alive.

The official Guild HQ lies between Vlorissfarne and Embergrove, a lovely little cottage fit to host classes, patients, and all the possible things a healer could need!

The In-City clinic is located just off the market square near the cheese both and is regularly staffed by Drow doctors.

The Healers’ Guild acts with impartiality in all it does. Healers cannot deny healing to anyone living for any personal reasons or for reasons of allegiance. We are strictly neutral in our actions in hopes that it will keep us from becoming the easy targets of ambitious Drow households.

All types of healers are welcomed and treated as equals. Magic may be the bread-and-butter of the sim, but magic is finite, as the rules remind us, and frankly, someone who can sew up a wound the old fashioned way, or brew an elixir to help ease pain, may, in some ways, be more valuable than those who rely purely on magic.

The Healer’s Oath

In the eyes of the gods and the guild I at this most solemn time freely take this Oath, whereby I shall pledge to myself and all others the manner in which I shall act.

Within these hallowed halls, and all others where the oath should stand, I shall always act in the best interests of my patient and shall never allow personal reward to impact upon my judgment. In these places all that must matter is my oath. I am servant to no master, save the words I now speak. Be my friend or be my enemy, all will find my aid.

I shall have the highest respect for life and remember that it is wrong to terminate life in certain circumstances, permissible in some, and an act of supreme love in others. I shall never promise a cure, as only death is certain, and I shall understand that preserving health is as important as treating disease. When a patient for whom I have been caring dies, I shall have the strength to allow them to die with dignity and in peace, and do all I can to comfort them in passing as I do in healing.

I shall strive to better understand all aspects of life, and of my craft. I shall learn all I might learn, practice whenever I can. To become the Healer I wish to be I must expand my thinking and my practice beyond myself, to approach all the problems of this world, including the social ills of poverty and anger that plague the world in which we live.

I am not a God and I cannot perform miracles. I am simply a person who has been given the rights and responsibilities to be a healer. I pledge to myself and all who hear me that this is what I shall become.
